Vermont fiction is famous for its wide range, from literary to mysteries to children’s picturebooks, young adult and middle grade reading, and historical and adventure novels. Twenty-six authors of Vermont fiction collaboratively form the Vermont Book Shelf, and the group is taking part in this month’s Brattleboro Literary festival.
If you’ve ever wished you could meet, say, mountain story spinner Castle Freeman, or hear about horses and dogs directly from Jessie Haas, October 13-14 is your weekend! Other authors on hand will include Michael J. Daley, Leda Schubert, and Nancy Means Wright. New books from Beth Kanell and Jenny Land are about to be released, and these writers will bring samples to the Vermont Book Shelf table to give advance peeks into the pages. Novelists F.D. Reeve and Laura Stevenson will be there too.
Find them all in the Robert H. Gibson River Garden at 153 Main Street, Brattleboro, on both Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 5.
